Santrex.net is extremely affordable but yet does not lack in services, support, and up-time! In all the time I have been doing business with them I have never had any trouble at all! The staff is extremely knowledgable and curteous! I highly reccommend them!

I’m sad to say that I’ve had extremely bad experience with Santrex in the past, I’d like to share the full story with you in order to help you avoid the headache I had:

I found Santrex was offering a very large box that was obviously a resold OVH box minus the usual transfer limits imposed on the box. After specifically asking if these limits apply or not and getting a very direct answer stating that there are no such limitations if the box is ordered through Santrex, I’ve decided to get one, expecting them to pay for the bandwidth used in order to guarantee the speeds promised.
What happend was the worst experience I have ever had with any hoster: First, the expected limits kicked in and everything was horribly slow. Santrex support took very long to reply and came up with the following solution to the problem: They simply changed their terms of service on this specific (expensive) box. Not wanting not having the time required to start a legal battle, I was forced to cancel the subscription extremely dissapointed. I ended up paying way to much for a box.

As for the four points I can grade here:

Speed: Was fine for a few days, then capped to an unusable state.
Reliability: The box was up … sort of.
Support: Was utterly useless, instead of helping they decided not to try.
Price: Fair if they would provide what they promise, in this case grossly overpriced

I don’t know how they fare if you get smaller slices/boxes, but my personal experience was truly horrifying.

Santrex was the perfect seebox for about 5 months, then things started to go downhill fast.

The rTorrent or the GUI started to fail, requiring their support to restart the server. If the seedbox reached it’s limit (my fault) the GUI would stop working, but gave no indication as to what the problem was.

Then the whole server failed, data lost. I could have dealt with this issue, but their support wasn’t very fast to respond to the issue, nor were they very forthcoming with details about what was going on. They finally moved me to a new server. The speeds were terrible. Then they moved me to another seebox, part of their Version 2 beta servers. That started to have random problems.

My data was lost 3 times in one month with all the hassle of moving servers, and other issues.

The final straw came when someone on their staff moved me to a new more expensive plan without my authorization. I asked for this issue to be corrected before I paid my invoice. They told me I would need to migrate servers again, thus more data loss. I refused. I asked them to migrate my data or cancel my account. They finally migrated my account, but before I could pay the bill, they terminated my seedbox (via automation).

While this provider does have decent support, they are not very good at providing details nor do they respond quickly on weekends. With all the hassle, I am glad to move to a new provider.

My experience has been reasonable, but you pay a premium for the services. You are much better off with a provider with less extra features you will never use.

Server problems right out of the gate. Have to restart the server every 5 minutes if  you want to access it. Will crash after a couple hours and that means no torrents running.

Utterly speechless. Couldnt even get into my flux GUI. Contacted them but not far not resolved. Basically got tired of waiting for them.

Unfortunately I still have money with them Didnt release it through paypal. So ended up stuck with them. Hopefully they get their act up and fix the problem.
